About City

Valencia, the name itself brings up the images of Sun, Oranges, and Sand. Valencia enjoys 320 days a year of glorious sunshine. It is a Perfect place to live and be outside enjoying the River Gardens, sitting at a café or exploring the mountains and fields that surround the city. It is one of the biggest cities in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona, and among the most livelies. It is located at the Mediterranean Sea, and you will find beaches right in the very heart of it. During the summer-months it is heavily visited by tourists, and if you want to spend holidays at the beach, with fantastic possibilities for any kind of sports (golf, diving, cycling, tennis, etc. are all very popular here) and a boiling nightlife, together with an ample cultural offer, then Valencia is the place for you. Its urban area extends beyond the administrative city limits with a population of around 1.5 million people. Valencia is the largest metropolitan area, with a population ranging from 1.7 to 2.5 million. The city has global city status. The Port of Valencia is the 5th busiest container port in Europe and busiest container port on the Mediterranean Sea. Starting in the mid-1990s, Valencia formerly an industrial centre, saw rapid development that expanded its cultural and touristic possibilities, and transformed it into a newly vibrant city. Many local landmarks were restored, including the ancient towers of the medieval city like Serrano Towers and Quart Towers and the San Miguel de los Reyes monastery, which now holds a conservation library. Whole sections of the old city for example the Carmen Quarter have been extensively renovated. The Paseo Maritimo, a 4 km long palm tree-lined promenade was constructed along the beaches of the north side of the port.
