Biography
Francois X. Claret received his PhD from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and did his postdoctoral training at the University of California San Diego studying JNK/MAP Kinase cell signaling. He is currently an Associate Professor at MD Anderson and his research focus is on understanding the molecular basis of cancer, especially identifying the cell signaling that leads to oncogene activation and cell cycle dysregulation. He has published 60 papers and he has been serving as an Associate Editor of the Frontiers in Cancer Molecular Targets and Therapeutics - FrontiersIn and on the editorial board of PLoS ONE.

Dr Wasif has been recognized as an internationally renowned expert and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) in the fields of Gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, Experimental Therapeutics and Pharmacogenetics, an exemplary clinician. He is a clinical and translational cancer researcher at Tufts Medical Center (MC) where he is a Professor of Medicine and serve as the Director of the GI Cancers Program and Program Leader of the Experimental Therapeutics Program at the Tufts Cancer Center, Tufts Medical Center, Boston. In the former role,he is responsible for the overall development and management of the clinical as well as research aspects of the program including clinical trials, standardization of treatment algorithms, multidisciplinary tumor board, collaboration among different modalities and mentorship for fellows interested in the subspecialty. In the latter role, he is responsible for the oversight and coordination for phase I studies. His administrative skills were first fostered at the Yale Cancer Center when he was assigned the role of Director of the GI Oncology disease team. In the words of Dr. Edward Chu, Chief of Medical Oncology and Deputy Director of Yale Cancer Center, “ During his six years at Yale, Wasif did a spectacular job in conducing novel clinical trials for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer and metastatic colorectal cancer.
